Job Description
IVF LABORATORY DIRECTOR Provides direction and supervision for all the complex laboratory procedures required for provision of infertility care and In-Virto Fertilization (IVF) Requirements/Qualifications Master Degree/Bachelor in Science / BSc. Degree In embryology, medical labs, or human reproduction. 5+ years prior experience in human IVF laboratory Must have a valid MOH license Embryologist with IVF experience Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and work effectively and professionally under pressure and without close supervision. Duties and responsibilities: Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the operations of assigned IVF laboratory operations and performance. Ensures staffing that supports compliance with standards of care and regulatory guidelines; recruits, hires, trains, evaluates and disciplines professional laboratory staff and support staff. Plans and performs laboratory quality control (QC), quality assessment ( QA) and participates in quality improvement ( QI) programs, record keeping and collection of data. Analyzes data and implements plans for improvement. Participates in research on oocytes cryopreservation, oocyte maturation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and related research. Performs other duties as assigned in keeping with Prelude Fertility’s policies, procedures and standards of patient care and initiatives toward continuous improvement at the individual and organizational level. Supports and actively participates in initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance. To perform laboratory based procedures to agreed protocols. To perform media and equipment preparation for all investigations and treatment procedures. To prepare media for sperm preparation, oocyte retrieval, insemination, embryo culture, PESA, TeSA, sperm freezing, embryo cryopreservation and thawing and embryo transfer. To participate in oocyte retrieval procedures and identify, isolate, grade and culture oocytes. To prepare sperm from either fresh ejaculate for insemination for either IUI, IVF, GIFT, ZIFT or ICSI procedures. To set up fertilization cultures. To check fertilization and record GV, 1PN, 2PN, 3PN, etc., including polar body check where appropriate. To assess cleavage and grade embryos. To select embryos for transfer, discuss with doctor and patients and perform embryo transfer procedures. To cryopreserve surplus viable embryos where consent is given. To dissect oocytes after retrieval and assess maturity of oocytes where ICSI is to be done. To undertake micromanipulation (ICSI or LASER assisted hatching) procedure. To offer counseling and advice to patients on the possible outcomes of procedures and any information that may have been gained as a result of investigation/treatment. To participate in andrology services, i.e., performing semen analyses, antisperm antibody testing and sperm freezing. To label all samples clearly and accurately. To keep accurate written records of all laboratory procedures. To participate in a shift system of work to cover weekend workload. To keep the laboratory safe, neat and tidy.
