Job Description
    Position Summary Looking for an Arabic Speaker Nurse Educator who will Act as a resource support to the nursing department, focusing on clinical skills and standards of nursing care. Supports and accompanies nursing staff during assessment, implementation and evaluation of clinical nursing practice, and giving feedback of level of skill and performance to nurse. Maintains and coordinates yearly education activities ensuring in line with strategic plan of organization   Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities. Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital- Sharjah (UHS) Complies with all UHS policies and procedures and fire regulations Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards Participates in the process to establish clinical nursing standards, ensuring a high standard of patient care, in accordance with the vision and mission of the hospital Utilizes adult learning principles, expected outcomes, and recognized education methods to improve the delivery of quality clinical nursing care Identifies individual and collective learning needs of nursing personnel through observation, assessment and evaluation of skills Collaborates with unit manger to develop a schedule to assist and accompany nursing staff in all the designated areas on a regular and orderly way Conducts clinical in-service education and provides remedial educational support to individuals Assists with probationary assessment of new staff and initiates remedial assistance where needed Provides support and guidance to new nursing staff to complete the orientation package of the specific area, to be completed in the first three months of employment Participate in the development of nursing policy as requested by DON, using department approved reference literature Participate in the development of nursing competencies, based upon the UHS scope of practice for nursing Assist with the assessment of competencies of individual nursing personnel Based upon strategic plan of UHS, incident occurrences and mandatory requirements, plans, develops and implements the training calendar for the nursing department on a yearly basis Based upon the yearly training calendar, prepares the budget required for submission to the DON Develops, and maintains instructional and reference materials and recommends purchase of new and updated items for clinical improvement Based on an educational need’s assessment, collaborates with unit manger to set learning objectives for each area of responsibility that are consistent with the philosophical, fiscal and operational plan of the Nursing Department   Required Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a BSc /Diploma of Nursing, not less than 3 years study duration . Desirable BLS instructor certificate Post graduate qualification in education within nursing   Licenses/Registration Required UAE Ministry of Health License   Within three months of employment BLS certificate   Position criteria 8-10 years post graduate nursing experience plus 3-5 years in an education role. Demonstrate the ability to develop and provide Educational Programs/activities to individuals, small & large groups Prior experience in education /training   Advantage previous experience in a commissioning environment previous experience of working in International accredited hospital   Other Skills/Abilities   Competencies: Have knowledge current evidence-based nursing practice. Demonstrate proven success in collaborating with peers & colleagues Able work in, a diverse multi-cultural environment Able to adapt to organization and environmental changes Computer literate familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel Power Point with knowledge of Internet use Must be fluent in written and spoken English, spoken Arabic skills desirable   Implements a variety of teaching strategies suitable to learner needs, desired learner outcomes, content, and context Uses information technologies competently to support the teaching-learning process Performs skilled oral, written, and electronic communication that reflects an awareness of self and others, along with an ability to express ideas in a variety of contexts Models critical and reflective thinking Creates opportunities for learners to develop their critical thinking and critical reasoning skills Shows enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing that inspires and motivates nurses Maintains the professional practice knowledge base needed to improve nursing practice Participates in self-reflection and continued learning to improve teaching practices that facilitate learning Facilitate Learner Development and Socialization Identifies individual learning styles and unique learning needs for adult learners, that is multicultural, whether educationally disadvantaged, physically challenged, at-risk, and or second-degree learners Provides resources to diverse learners that help meet their individual learning needs Engages in effective counselling strategies that help learners meet their professional goals Creates learning environments to facilitate learners’ self-reflection and personal goal setting Recognizes the effect of teaching styles and interpersonal interactions on learner outcomes Use of Assessment and Evaluation Strategies: Uses present literature to develop evidence-based assessment and evaluation practices Uses a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate learning in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains Implements evidence-based assessment and evaluation strategies that are appropriate to the learner and to learning goals Uses assessment and evaluation data to enhance the teaching-learning process Provides timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners Demonstrates skill in the design and use of tools for assessing clinical practice. Participate in formulating program courses and evaluation of program outcomes. Ensures that the courses program reflects institutional philosophy and mission, current nursing and health care trends, and community and societal needs with complex, dynamic, multicultural health care environment to strengthen nurses’ practices. Demonstrates knowledge of program progress including identifying program results, developing competency statements, writing learning objectives, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies Bases and revises courses/program design and implementation decisions on sound educational principles, theory, and research. Creates and maintains joint and clinical partnerships that support educational goals Designs and implements program assessment models that promote continuous quality improvement of all aspects of the program. Evaluates organizational effectiveness in nursing education Implements strategies for organizational change Promotes advanced practices in educational environments Develops leadership skills to shape and implement change. Participates in professional development opportunities such as ongoing educational program and competency validation process to increase one’s effectiveness in the role Uses feedback gained from self, colleagues, and administrative evaluation to improve role effectiveness Uses knowledge of legal and ethical issues relevant to higher education and nursing education as a basis for influencing, designing, and implementing policies and procedures related to the educational environment needed Mentors and supports colleagues. Draws on existing literature to design evidence-based teaching and evaluation practices Demonstrates skill in proposal writing for initiatives that include, but are not limited to, research, resource acquisition, program development, and policy development Uses knowledge of history and current trends and issues in higher education as a basis for making recommendations and decisions on educational issues Develops networks, collaborations, and partnerships to enhance nursing’s influence within the academic community Integrates the values of respect, collegiality, professionalism, and caring to build an organizational climate that fosters the development of learners
