Dr Hamid Alhaj has extensive experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the United Kingdom and has worked for over 13 years in England within the National Health Service (NHS) and private sector
Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine, University of Sharjah
He holds the position of Director of Research for the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care and Low Secure Units (NAPICU) in the UK
He also holds an Honorary Senior Clinical Lectureship at the University of Sheffield
He has previously worked as Director of Medical Education at Sheffield Health and Social Care (SHSC) NHS Foundation Trust between 2018 and 2020
He has worked as a PLAB Examiner at The General Medical Council, Manchester, UK
Between 2015 and 2018, he worked as Foundation Training Program Director at Health Education England in Yorkshire and the Humber
He has held many senior positions at SHSC NHS Trust including Psychiatry Placement Lead, Educational/ Clinical Supervisor of Specialist Registrars, Core Trainees and Foundation Doctors
He did his Specialty Registrar training in Psychiatry in the North East of England and at the time was holding an Honorary Postdoctoral Research Associate post with Newcastle University
Between 2013 and 2014, he was Deputy Director of Studies, Phase 3A, the Medical School at the University of Sheffield and Secretary of the Clinical Academic Society UK, University of Sheffield UK
He has been an invited speaker and chair of numerous sessions at national and international conferences
He has presented many publications on various psychiatric topics in learned peer-reviewed journals as well as magazines and newspapers
He is an Editor Journal of Psychiatric Intensive Care
